Hi friends! Long time no blog lol. BUT i am back in action with a super valuable post for my fellow runners!
A lot of the frequently asked questions in my DMs revolve around what I recommend for running.. whether its sports bras that are most supportive, shoes that I recommend, music suggestions, etc.. I have all the answers for you compiled right here in one place!! I am just building up a base mileage right now, but as I actually start to train for my marathon, I will add to this list!
-Staying properly hydrated is SO important if you’re running! Not just before/after your runs, but ALL THE TIME. Having my hydrojug with me at all times is super helpful.. it’s a half gallon so if I drink two a day, I am easily getting in enough water! Code NICOLEMRAUCH saves you 10%.
–Liquid IV is my go-to as soon as I return from my run. There are plenty of electrolytes in there to help hydrate you faster than water alone and the taste quenches my thirst! My favorite flavors lately are lemon lime, piña colada, and watermelon. Code NICOLEMRAUCH saves you 25%.
-Free Spirit Outlet has plenty of great high impact sports bra options for a great price! The 4 bras towards the top of the graphic are my favorites for running, all super comfortable with great support! [From left to right: Slim Sculpt Bra, Streamline Bra, Extra Strappy Bra, Impact Clasp Bra]. Code NICOLEMRAUCH gets you 20% off at FSO!
-Lululemon is my go-to for the highest quality workout gear! My favorite lulu sports bras for running are the All Powered Up Bra [bottom left in black] and the Energy Bra Long Line [bottom center in pink]. These are both a touch pricier but well worth it as they will last you for years to come! These links are affiliate links, so if you choose to shop through them, I will earn a small commission. Thank you so much for your support!
-As y’all know, I am a FP Movement junkie. Have been wearing LOTS of different pieces from them lately and have been so impressed with their Make a Move Bra ! The straps are adjustable which makes it even better.
I am SO particular about my shorts when I am running. I need something high waisted that stays in place and feels light on my body.. if you’re the same way, I PROMISE these shorts are for you. I have truly tried them ALL and these are the only ones I reach for now!
-Lululemon Find Your Pace Short [top left], Hotty Hot High-Rise Short [top center], Track That Mid-Rise Short [bottom center].
-The Nike Flex Essential 2-in-1 [top right] are great because of the spandex liner underneath! They feel extremely secure while also feeling light around my waist and legs.
-I hate nothing more than having to hike up my shorts at the waist and pull down my shorts by my crotch. When I say I need something that stays in place, I mean literally something that won’t budge. These FP Movement Prajna Shorts [bottom left] are a WINNER, I was so incredibly impressed the first time I wore them for a run! So if you’re looking for some running “spandex”, these are for you.
-Balance Athletica’s Breeze Short is unique because of the thong liner! No horrible panty line.. I love it. And they are very high waisted with an adjustable tie!
As for shoes, I don’t like to make too many recommendations because everyone’s foot and stride is SO different.. and the right shoe for you greatly depends on that plus so much more. I definitely recommend going to a running store near you to get properly fitted for a pair, especially if you are running multiple times a week! You will feel like a new person once you’re running in right shoes for you.. truly makes all the difference!! I am currently alternating between Hoka Stinson ATR 6‘s [top] and Brooks Glycerin 18‘s [bottom] for my runs.
The accessories that will make your run SO much better.. a handheld water bottle (truly a must in this Texas heat), a running belt to hold your phone, keys, and a card if needed, and bluetooth headphones. I personally love my airpods! Another accessory that I feel is a nonnegotiable is a good watch.. I currently use my apple watch but will likely upgrade to a garmin. Once I do, I will of course add it here.
I also wanted to link my workout playlist for y’all.. I listen to this on my runs if I’m not doing a Peloton guided run and I have yet to get sick of it.
Other than that, that’s all I have for now! As I get further into my race training, I will add things as I come by them 🙂 This goes for leggings as well.. have yet to find a solid pair that I LOVE to run in, but am currently only running in shorts given this crazy TX heat.
Let me know what questions you have in the comments! Thanks for reading.

Hi my name is Marcela I’m 22 and I ran XC and track in middle school and high school. I kept up with running but not as much as I did back then and I’m just finding it hard to get my time faster and running longer distance without stopping. Are there any tips you recommended me?
